A Letter of Introduction
To Garnil Thunderman, Commander, Sterling Guild
My name is Carlo Aurelius, Assassin with the Ravenholdt League. I am writing to you because it has come to my attention that one of our associates has joined your ranks. Although her name is Bjorke Aurelius, she is not my true daughter. She was abandoned on our grounds as a babe, probably due to superstition regarding the dagger-shaped birthmark she bears. I took her in, and raised her as my own, although I made no secret of her beginnings with me. We taught her our ways, our secrets, and our methods. With her innate talents with plants and herbs, she has become an expert on finding and using the various flora found throughout all of Azeroth.
When she was old enough to venture out on her own, she struck out and managed to find a sister living in Stormwind. I do not know much about this time, except that Bjorke says her sister is a Holy Knight in the Order of Gryphon’s Flight of Norgannon. Bjorke returned to us, and we continued her training and prepared her for her for what was to lie ahead. Obviously, I cannot go into detail, but she remained in deep cover, with no contact from us, for many seasons. She returned when her mission was complete, but in some way, she never really returned.
This prolonged solitude seems to have taken a toll on her, and this is in fact why I am contacting you. She is not one who gives her trust easily, so I was very surprised to find she had joined a guild, especially one with the fine reputation of Sterling. Never known to isolate herself, she was just the opposite – happy, outgoing, gregarious. This was one of the reasons she was so good at her trade. People just naturally trusted her and liked her. Most nights found her with friends, joining a party or starting one. Now, however, she shuns crowds, and says they make her fingers twitch.
I have noticed other changes as well. Her fighting style now has a certain edge to it. Although her prowess with a multitude of weapons is well-known here in Ravenholdt, we have noticed a lack of care regarding her own well-being and safety. Rumors have even begun to circulate among certain circles about her alliances with those even we find unsavory.
I do not feel I have broken any confidences in contacting you. My primary concern is for the woman I consider my daughter. My deepest wish is that she has found a group of comrades that she can come to trust, to heal whatever deep wounds she hides beneath a seemingly bright smile, so that I may once again have my daughter back, completely.
Yours in the Alliance,
Carlo Aurelius,
Ravenholdt League
