Trade Off
Bjorke came to in the bowels of Undercity. She recognized it right away, having spent extensive time on a reconnaissance mission there. Her head ached from the blow, and her stomach churned. “Must have been something in that drink,” she thought. She lifted her hand to rub the lump on the back of her head only to discover that she was chained. She reached for her boot, to get her tools, but no boots. “Blast,” she muttered.
An enormous troll sauntered in, grinning at her. At least, it looked like a grin, but hard to tell with those tusks. The stench of him overpowered her, and she turned her head and retched. She tried to wipe her mouth, but the chains were too short. Twisting her head, she managed to wipe her mouth on her shoulder. Turning back, she glared at the troll. He cackled and tossed some rags on the floor, and said something to her in Orcish. Bjorke recognized one of the words, the one he used to address her. Read the rest of this entry »
